Sail & Anchor Pub Brewery wins 11 international awards
The Sail & Anchor Pub Brewery is celebrating after a record breaking win at the Australian International Beer Awards.
The famous Western Australian icon has been judged Champion Small Brewery, one of the most prestigious awards of the competition.
The Sail & Anchor's new flagship craft beer India Pale Ale (IPA) was also recognised, winning Champion Ale of the Show and Champion Small Brewery Beer.
Brewers Peter Nolin and Bill Hoedemaker said they were thrilled that this latest addition to the craft beer portfolio had been voted best in its class.
"We have put a lot of attention into refining the recipe for this English style beer which has proven to be a great success," said Peter.
"The demand for this ale has exceeded all expectations, its popularity with our customers is the reason why it has become a regular ale at the Sail & Anchor and we are ecstatic to see our efforts rewarded."
The pub brewery was also awarded five gold and three silver medals for a number of its hand craft beers.
"Bill and I have shifted the emphasis away from the heavy, dark style beers and concentrated on the crisper styles, while maintaining the same degree of quality and complexity," he said.
"It's our goal to educate the public by providing them with styles of craft beer that are not normally available in Australia."
Over the years the International Beer Awards has grown to become the biggest competitions in the world for professional brewers, which acknowledges excellence in brewing.
This year the awards represented eighty-seven breweries from twenty-five countries around the world, with some as far as Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany and Austria.
