Gold in the sand

The tears of pain from Atlanta turn to tears of joy at Bondi when Natalie Cook and Kerri Pottharst became the latest Gold Medal winners for the Fosters Sports Foundation.

Natalie and Kerri bronze medal winners at Atlanta in 1996 over came the odds to defend the world number one ranked Brazilian Team Adriana Behar and Shelda Bede in straight sets 12-11, 12-10 at Bondi today to claim gold.

The victory by the two Australians now gives the Fosters Sports Foundation grant athletes three gold, four silver and 2 bronze.

Natalie and Kerri are one of 183 Australian athletes selected for the Games who are original recipients of the Foster's Sports Foundation.

Other Foundation winners have been Andrew Hoy, Phillip Dutton, Matt Ryan and Stuart Tinney, Gold in the Three Day Equestrian, Russell Mark, Silver in the Double Trap Shoot, Annemarie Forder, Bronze in the Women's 10m Air Pistol Shoot, Bronze to 200m Butterfly champion Justin Norris and Gold to Bill Kirby a member of the victorious Men's 4x200m Freestyle Relay team, Ji Wallace, Silver in Trampolining and Jamie Fernandez and Nicholas Porzig, Men's Rowing Eights.
