CUB adds to spirits portfolio

Melbourne, 02 October 2001

Carlton and United Breweries (CUB), a wholly owned subsidiary of Foster's Group Limited, today announced it had purchased the spirits brand portfolio of Tarac Liquor Marketers (TLM) for just over $2.2 million. Brands include Kirov Vodka, Black Jack Bourbon, Barossa Brandy and Prince of Wales Scotch.

Mr James King, Managing Director, CUB, said this purchase would further enhance CUB's spirits arm, The Continental Spirits Company.

Continental already manages a significant portfolio of major spirit brands including The Black Douglas Whiskey, Cougar Bourbon, Karloff Vodka, Chivas Regal Whiskey, Captain Morgan Rum and Seagram Gin.

"Last year Continental recorded very strong growth and we intend to further capitalise on this momentum," Mr King said.

"Continental, with this greater product portfolio, will add strength to its customer service capabilities and the ability to build its sales and marketing activities throughout Australia," Mr King added.

The production of the brands will be transferred to Continental's production site at Botany, NSW, which will add to the volume and efficiency of the facility.

Stock can now be purchased directly from Continental Spirits.
