Foster's Group Ltd (Foster's), Jim Beam Brands Australia (JBBA) and Coca-Cola Amatil (CCA) today confirmed that an agreement had been reached between their respective organisations in relation to the ZERO trademark in Australia on alcoholic beverages.
Under the terms of this agreement, JBBA and CCA have acknowledged that Foster's owns the exclusive rights to use the ZERO trade mark in Australia in respect of alcoholic beverages.
The companies had been in discussion in light of the use of the term 'ZERO' in the packaging and advertising of CCA's imminent launch of a new Jim Beam product with a zero sugar additive.
JBBA and CCA have also agreed to change the appearance of the initial packaging of the product to an appearance that is acceptable to Foster's.
